THE DEVELOPMENT OF LANGUAGE

Every human group has a language, no matter how rudimentary and this shows that the development of language was a relatively early event. How the human being developed language has been a mystery and scholars generally have not been able to find a satisfactory explanation for this event. According to Abd-ru-shin, the human word is a reflection of the splendour of the Word of God. In fact, the entire Creation came into being through His Word in the fiat "Let there be Light". The Word of the Lord has Creative Power and it is through this Power that everything was created. Man's duty in subsequent creation was to form or transform this subsequent creation in such a way that it begins to resemble the first Creation that was created with the Word of God. And it is only with the word that he can do this.

The human word therefore has not creative power but formative power. In fact, he absolutely needed to have this gift so as to be able to bring the entire subsequent creation into a state where it can uninterruptedly receive of the powers that come from the Luminous Heights. Therefore, this ability was given to man for him to be able to form subsequent creation and in the process join it up with the perfect first Creation which issued directly from the Hand of the Creator. Therefore, the gift of the word is an especially high one. It is to be used to transform the entire world of gross matter and this lies in the hands of the human spirits. What a great responsibility indeed have been given to us through this ability which makes us lords in subsequent creation because through this ability the fate of the entire gross material creation rests in our hands.

We were to shape it through the use of our very many abilities, of which the gift of the human word is especially important, into a place that resembles Paradise. Because every single group of human beings have been able to develop language, every group as a result was to use it to develop and perfect its particular environment and which in coming together to form the whole will reveal to us here on earth what is indeed the true picture of Paradise. It is with the word that we are to anchor our spiritual volition on earth which volition if good will automatically have connection with Paradise. Every group of people in its gift of abilities represent a particular section of the spiritual realm and in bringing its gift to full blossom right here on earth, he also brings down as a matter of course all the blessings that he receives from the Luminous Heights as a result of its connection. It thereby through the wise and proper use of its abilities becomes a mediator for strong spiritual powers.

These are the things we were supposed to have done with our abilities. As noted earlier every word has come into being under the pressure of higher Laws and as such every word is able to draw special powers and in its proper application can bring great blessings and also its wrong use can bring great disasters. At the advent of the human spirits on earth, communication was mainly by gestures and by making some sounds. Since the human spirit carried the ability to form words within itself, the anatomic basis for this was formed with time in the formation of the vocal cords and the other anatomic modifications which have been described in detail in an earlier section. Therefore, with time gestures and sounds gave way to the rudiments of language and this increased as time went on and as the spiritual abilities of human beings increased. The environment played a great role in this and as a result concepts upon concepts formed.

The development of language could never have been achieved without the help of our spiritual helpers and the elemental beings. These were our teachers in all things, including the language. It is almost inconceivable to think that the human spirit, helpless as he is in the mightiness of the entire Creation would on its own achieve something like the development of language without help. He who claims so still does not know how the Creation which he calls his home is organised. He only talks without looking properly to see whether we human spirits really have the independence and autonomy which we claim we have. The differences in the maturity of human spirits also led to differences in the languages with some more advanced than others and the environment contributed in that languages differ in their concepts which are sometimes taken from the environment.
